Security Beefed Up As Jonathan Visits Jigawa Today

The security agencies in Jigawa State have put a water-tight security in place ahead of the two-day visit by President Goodluck Jonathan, starting from today.

During the visit, Jonathan is expected to inaugurate some projects built by the administration of Governor Sule Lamido. A security source yesterday told THISDAY under anonymity that “We are not leaving any stone unturned to ensure that President Jonathan visit is hitch-free.”

THISDAY also gathered that most strategic areas in the state, where the President would be visiting have been condoned by the armed policemen and soldiers to ensure hitch-free visit. Speaking with THISDAY also, the Director of Press to the governor, Malam Umar Kyari, explained that all the necessary arrangements had been concluded for the visit.

He stated that the President would also lay the foundation for the airport, which is estimated at N5 billion. Kyari said the President would be welcomed to the state today with a grand Durbar ceremony in Hadejia to be organised by the Emir of Hadeja, who is also the chairman of the state Council of Emirs.

“The President will launch the college for remedial studies which will become the Jigawa State University in Kafin-Hausa Local Government Area. From there, he will drive to Bamaina to inaugurate the Jigawa State Academy for the Gifted.

“The President will have a community discussion with stakeholders of the state and people from other parts of the country. He will also inaugurate  other development projects executed by the Lamido-led administration, and the visit will enable the people of the state to meet with the President,” he said.

He hinted that President Jonathan’s visit was expected to attract positive developments to the state, adding that the people of the state were already eager to receive him.
