Bakassi: Cameroon President Biya's Delegation Meets Jonathan

A special delegation from the Camerounian President, Paul Biya yesterday visited President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja where issues of bilateral relations between the two countries were discussed.

Though details of the meeting were not made public, it was gathered that the Camerounian leader requested for a meeting with his Nigerian counterpart where issues of the Bakassi Pennisula which was ceded to Cameroun by the International Court of Justice are expected to be discussed.

The three-man delegation sent by Biya to Jonathan included the country’s Deputy Prime Minister, Ahmadu Ali; Camerounian Ambassador to Nigeria, Abbas Iya Ibrahima; and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and African Cooperation, Jean Nguta.

It would be recalled that there have been renewed agitations  by Nigerians, including the National Assembly, who have been calling for a revisit of the ICJ ruling.
