Aliyu charges FG to release white paper on bomb blasts

Gov. Babangida Aliyu of Niger, on Sunday called on the Federal Government to release its white paper on the various bomb blasts in the country.

Aliyu made the call when the delegation of Tijjaniyya, Islamic organisation paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Minna.

He said that the white paper would enable the government identify persons connected and be punished accordingly, adding that Nigerians would also know those responsible for the attacks.

He said that available records showed that some groups were cashing in on the act committed by the Boko Haram for their own selfish interest.

“I know that some groups are carrying out some bombings, including the original Boko Haram group, some thieves are masquerading as Boko Haram and the other groups.

He said that the act of bombing was giving Islam a bad name, therefore, there was need for the government to make its findings public.

Aliyu said that Islam was a religion of peace and that its adherents were expected to work toward ensuring that peace and stability reigned in the country and shun all negative acts.

He commended the members of the Tijjaniyya group for coming out for the annual international Maulud celebration in honour of their late spiritual leader, late Shiekh Ibrahim Inyass, in spite of the security challenges in the country.
