The Imo State government has denied any crisis between Governor Rochas Okorocha and the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Benjamin Uwajumogu.
In a statement issued in Owerri yesterday to journalists, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Ebere Uzoukwa, said the report of a rift between the governor and speaker are baseless. He said the publication is another falsehood peddled by people he described as disgruntled elements and enemies of the state, whose intention is to ensure that the present administration under Okorocha fails.
He said the governor and the speaker are democrats who are committed to taking the state to greater heights so that history will always remember them.
According to him, the governor has continued to closely involve the legislature in executing projects and programmes that impact positively on the lives of Imo people. He said Okorocha has at no time and for whatever reason meddled into the activities of the legislature, adding that he is one of the ardent believers of separation of powers and checks and balances.
