Lagos Assembly Threatens To Ban 'Okada' From Operating In The State

Expressing concern over increasing violence by commercial motorcycle operators over the traffic Law, the State House of Assembly threatened to outrightly ban Okada from operating in the state.

Speaker of the House, Adeyemi Ikuforiji gave the hint while condemning the reported vandalisation of government property, especially BRT buses by the Okada operators on Ikorodu Road.

According to him, the report of this dastardly act was brought to the floor by Mr. Olanrewaju Oshun, representing Mainland Constituency II.

He called on the state government to strengthen security agencies to protect lives and property, saying the House would not hesitate to ban in Lagos if the operators continued to constitute nuisance in the state.

Other members who spoken the protest condemned the attitude of the operators, saying that the government had given enough time to sensitize the public on the traffic law.
