Ondo Poll: Mimiko Promises Trucks’ Road In Ikare

Ondo State Governor Olusegun Mimiko on Thursday, promised to construct a special road for articulated vehicles plying Ikare roads to other towns.

The motive, the governor said, was to curb the recurring accidents in the town.

The governor according to a statement by the MCO Director of Media, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi, made the promise at Ikare-Akoko, headquarters of Akoko North East local government while addressing a political rally.

Mimiko, the Labour Party governorship candidate, is seeking re-election in the October 20 poll.

Mimiko that his administration took the decision to provide the special road in order to put an end to the incessant loss of lives and property at Ikare market.

He noted that his administration in the last three and half years had touched the lives of the people of the state through various transformational projects.

The governor, who spoke on the need for the provision of social amenities to the people, added that any government that failed to do so was not fit to govern the people.

Mimiko noted that the LP-led administration had among  other various projects completed the Awara Water Dam, which was abandoned by the last administration despite millions of Naira spent on it.

According to him, evidence abound of his accomplishments, saying there is nobody in the state whose life had not been touched through one project or the other.

Mimiko however said despite these achievements, he was ready to do more if re-elected.

At Iboropa Akoko, Mimiko promised that his administration would complete the ongoing Iboropa–Ugbe road projects to facilitate easy transportation in the town.

He therefore solicited the votes of the people  to enable him to complete all other ongoing projects in the town.

Meanwhile, the National Association of Ondo State Student on Thursday expressed their resolve to support the second term bid of Mimiko.
