Ondo PDP Alleges Planned Clampdown On Members

Olusola Oke Campaign Organisation on Monday alleged that the Ondo State Government was planning to clamp down on the campaign group of the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for the October 20 governorship election.

The organisation, in a statement by its Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Kunle Adebayo, also alleged that the ruling Labour Party government was planning to constitute a panel to probe the six-year tenure of former Governor Olusegun Agagu, a member of the PDP.

It also alleged that notable supporters of the PDP’s candidate, Chief Olusola Oke, in the 18 local governments had been “penciled down to be arrested on trumped-up charges”.

But the Olusegun Mimiko Campaign Organisation, in a statement by its Director of Media, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi, described the alleged clampdown on PDP members by the Mimiko administration as “false”.

He also said the PDP was “trying to attract positive attention to Agagu, whose tenure was hallmarked by high level profligacy, deliberate and brazen heist of the people’s commonwealth”.

The statement said, “A few set of compromised security operatives have been commissioned to cook up reports on trumped-up charges with which they intend to clamp down on their perceived political enemies who are members of our great party.

“Specific strategies of such heinous plot include planting incriminating materials inside the vehicles, homes and persons of our party leaders.”
