The factional Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, Jonah Jang, on Friday denied division in the NGF, claimed that he is its only chairman.
Speaking with State House correspondents after meeting with President Jonathan, Jang said the meeting with the president was to “congratulate Mr. President and to consult with him on very serious national issues”.
He named security challenges in the country and other sundry national issues as topics on which the governors consulted with the president.
Governor Jang said the governors consulted with the president on “the security problem in the country and what we need to do in the coming two years to ensure that democracy stabilise and development continues in the country.
Asked whether the issue of factionalisation of the NGF came up, Mr. Jang said “let me tell you there is no factionalition of the NGF, NGF is one and I am the chairman of the NGF”.
President Jonathan acknowledged Jang as the chairman of the NGF Thursday night when he publicly recognized him as the chairman of the NGF at a dinner he hosted for members of the PDP family.
Those in attendance at yesterday’s meeting with the president were /Godswill Akpabio, Peter Obi, Ramallan Yero, Olusegun Mimiko, captain Idris Wada and the governor of Katsina state, Ibrahim Shema.
