The Peoples Democratic Party has taken a retrospective look at its activities in the last 14 years and said it will be wrong to say all its actions are right.
The National Chairman of the party, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, stated this while speaking with journalists in Abuja on Friday.
However, he also said it would be wrong to say that the party had not done well since it assumed the leadership of the country in 1999.
Tukur claimed that his party had fared better in power irrespective of the indictment from the opposition flank and pro-democracy groups.
He said, “The PDP has only ruled for 14 years. Certainly, we cannot say that everything that we have done is right; but you cannot also say that everything that we have done is wrong, because the people continue to renew our mandate.
“If the people of Nigeria continue to renew our mandate in the last 14 years, it means they believe in PDP to represent their interest. That’s the truth.”
He said it was wrong to assume that the party usually force its ways into power, adding that even the President of the country had only one vote.
Apart from this, he also said the elected officials must cultivate the habit of reporting back to those who put them in power.
Tukur said, “The President of this country has only one vote; also, the chairman of the party has only one vote. All of us registered from our own ward to be members of this party called the PDP.”
