Aliyu Appoints New SSG, COS, HOS

Following the nomination of the Secretary to Niger State Government (SSG), Head of service (HOS) and Chief of staff to Government House (COS), as commissioners designate, Governor Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu has appointed new persons to fill the vacant positions.

The Governor in a statement signed yesterday by the chief press secretary to the Governor, Danlandi Ndayebo, has appointed a former speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Hon. Idris Saidu Ndako as the new secretary to the state government.

The statement added that the permanent secretary of Niger State law reform commission, Barr. Abbas Bello has been appointed as the new head of the civil service, while the director general in charge of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) state's focal office, Mr. Joshua Bawa is the new Chief of Staff, Government House.

Ndayebo in the statement said the Governor has also approved the appointment of a former member of the Niger State House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Saba Usman as the deputy chief of staff in the Governor's Office.

The statement said the changes were in furtherance to the ongoing efforts to reposition and strengthen the Governor Aliyu-led PDP government for enhanced service delivery and the attainment of the vision of the state to be one of the three top economies in Nigeria by year 2020.

Born in January 1965, the new secretary to the state government holds a Masters Degree in business administration from the Bayero University, Kano and was until his appointment the commissioner of planning and deputy chairman, Niger State Planning Commission.

The chief of staff holds a PHD degree and has worked with several international development partners and the new head of service who has for several years been the state solicitor general holds an LLM degree and attended Nigeria Law School, Lagos.
