Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola has given account of how his administration spent N7.4billion on the state’s economy and other sectors since its inception two years ago.

At a meeting with some selected leaders of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) at the state secretariat of the party in Osogbo,  Aregbesolasaid his programmes during the period had buoyed the economy and social services in the state.

He disclosed that the state governments had invested huge sums of money in the education sector through the provision of computer tablets for secondary school students, provision of free meals for primary schoolpupils and building of new classrooms in all the primary and secondary schools in the state.

The governor said that the employment of youths in the Osun Youths Empowerment Scheme (OYES) had contributed to the improvement of the state economy as about 40,000 youths had been employed through thescheme with over 18,000 absolved into the state civil service.

Aregbesola, who noted that the payment of monthly allowances to the elderly people in the state was part of the efforts by his government to reduce poverty among the people, said the government paid N16 million monthly to the elderly through the "Agba Osun" scheme.

He said the beneficiaries of the scheme who are drawn from the 30 local government areas of the state are those who have no means of livelihood, adding that partisan politicswas considered in the choice of the beneficiaries of the scheme.

The governor assured the people that his government would construct more roads, stressing, "you have not seen anything yet in terms of road construction in Osun State.What is in the secret will soon be made open and you will see real road construction in all parts of the state soon."

He enjoined all members of the ACN in the state to mobilise support for his administration to do more for the electorate.
