I’m Not Engaged In Frivolous Trips – Suswam

The Benue State governor, Gabriel Suswam, has debunked reports in the media accusing him of embarking on frivolous foreign trips.

In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs, Dr Cletus Akwaya, Governor Suswam said although the authors of the reports tried to hide their identities, investigations had revealed that they were members of the opposition, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), in the state.

The statement noted that all the times the governor had cause to be out of the country, he properly handed over to his deputy, Chief Steven Lawani, who equally handled affairs of state with tremendous competence to the admiration of the people of the state.

It further said that Governor Suswam had continued to deliver on his projects and programmes including the numerous rural roads, mega water supply projects, rural electrification projects and the numerous wealth creation and youth empowerment programmes being undertaken by his administration.

It added that no government business had ever failed or was unattended to, on account of the governor’s absence from the state, adding that the state infrastructural projects being executed were being closely monitored and supervised and no commissioner in the Suswam administration was redundant as insinuated in the report under reference.

It noted that the governor’s latest short vacation trip abroad which attracted the comment of the so-called concerned stakeholders was during the festive period and after the Governor had successfully presented the 2013 budget to the state House of Assembly for deliberations.
