Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo has come hard on residents of the state currently clamouring for an unwritten zoning principle to be adopted concerning who emerges in 2019.

Legit.ng reports that there have been agitations for the governorship seat to be zoned to Owerri, but the governor described them as educated illiterates, uniformed and clanish.

According to Okorocha, those calling for zoning do not have the capacity to govern.

The governor argued that Imo was different from Kogi, Plateau, Benue and others with different ethnic groups and in need of power banlancing.

Imo, the governor said, has just one ethnic group and a single language and as such does not need zoning.

“What is certain is that there must be a new governor of the state in 2019 and for me those talking about zoning in 2019 are very foolish, educated illiterates and clannish and the era of zoning in the state is over.

“The point is that a zone cannot be a governor, it is only an individual who has the capacity to pilot the affairs of the state whether it is in Owerri, Orlu or Okigwe let them present themselves.

“Those who are talking of zoning immediately they get to office what they will be concerned about would be their family members and abandon the state as has been in the past,” Okorocha reportedly said at an interactive session.

Okorocha also recently rejected the nomination of his second daughter Uju Anwuka for appointment as a member of board of the Federal College of Education, (Tech), Omoku.

Uju is married to Dr Uzoma Anwua who is a son of Prof Anthony Anwuka, the minister of education state. Their wedding took place in 2014.
