500 APC members defect to PDP in Benue

- No fewer than 500 APC supporters joined PDP over the weekend in Benue state

- The defectors say their reason for joining the PDP is as a result of the emergence of Arc. Eric Adokwu as PDP’s flag bearer in Ohimini LGA ahead of the 2017 LGA election in Benue

- They says it would amount to breaching the law of nature if they worked against a man whom has given so much to the community

At least 500 supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), including some of the executive members of the party, both present and past, have defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ohimini local government area of Benue State, Leadership reports.

The defection comes on the heels of the emergence of Arc. Eric Adokwu as PDP’s flag bearer in Ohimini LGA ahead of the 2017 local government election in Benue state.

According to report, the APC defectors joined the PDP on Sunday, April 30, at Onyagede council ward, when Adokwu visited the area in continuation of his wards tour.

Speaking on behalf of defectors, Hon. Ameh said the emergence of Eric Adokwu as PDP candidate spurred their defection, adding that it would amount to breaching the law of nature if they worked against a man whom has given so much to the community.

Hon. Ameh eulogised the personality of Adokwu and his contributions to the development Ohimini local government area.

He said the PDP was assured of landslide victory at the forthcoming chairmanship election.

On his part, Adokwu thanked the people for their wise decision, stressing that their gestures would be reciprocated through more infrastructural developments after his victory on June 3.

However, he advised the people and the general public, to go out and get registered in the on-going Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise by INEC, to enable them vote for PDP, come June 3rd, 2017.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported over 500 members of the PDP in Ikono local government area in Akwa Ibom on Sunday, April 30, defected to APC.
