Fayose paid his lawyer from N2.2 billion Dasuki loot hidden in his account - EFCC
- EFCC approaches Lagos High Court to request that Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) access to his account in Guaranty Trust Bank which has a balance of N75m remains blocked
- Ozekhome, who is Fayose's lawyer had told the court that the N75 million was a fee paid to him by Fayose, who happened to be his client.
- EFCC however, insisted that Fayose paid his lawyer from the N2.2 billion Dasuki loot which was hidden in his account
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has approached a Lagos High Court to keep a Guarantee Trust Bank account of Mike Ozekhome (SAN) sealed up till further notice.
The agency told the court that the account which reportedly has a balance of N75 million was given to the lawyer by Governor Fayose.
EFCC said the money was transferred from an account of Fayose that had been previously locked up after being allegedly linked to N2.2 billion allegedly looted by former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.).

Punch reports that the EFCC claimed to have traced N1.22bn out of the N2.26bn Dasuki loot to Fayose.
The agency reportedly claimed that Dasuki routed the money to Fayose through a former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro.
Recall that Ozekhome's account had since February 7, 2017, been frozen by the EFCC on the order of Justice Anka and he approached a court to unfreeze it.
EFCC claimed that though it had earlier secured an order from Justice Mohammed Idris of the Federal High Court in Lagos to freeze Fayose’s account, the governor, through Ozekhome, went before Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Ado Ekiti Division of the Federal High Court to obtain an order to unfreeze the account.
The EFCC prosecutor, Idris Mohammed said despite the fact that Fayose was aware that it had immediately appealed Justice Taiwo’s ruling, the governor still went ahead to dole out part of the funds to pay Ozekhome who helped him to secure Justice Taiwo’s unfreezing order.

The EFCC said "Ozekhome should have reasonably known that the N75m was transferred to him” from Fayose’s account, which the EFCC claimed was used to retain proceeds of crime and alleged bribe from some contractors in Ekiti State.
Meanwhile, EFCC has concluded arrangements to prosecute Gogo Anderson Waribo, Deputy Director of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akwa Ibom and former Electoral Officer in Rivers.
The agency said that Waribo would be arraigned for allegedly collecting N16 million from the N23 billion Diezani Allison Madueke’s 2015 general elections bribery funds.
