- The Nigerian air force has announced the promotion of 78 senior officers
- The officers promoted include 14 air vice marshals, 19 air commodores and 45 group captains.
- The decoration ceremony for the officers will take place on Wednesday, December 14, at the NAF headquarters in Abuja
Seventy-eight senior officers of the Nigerian air force have been promoted to various ranks, the institution said on Friday, December 9.
A statement by the director of public relation and information for the Nigerian air force, Ayodele, Famuyiwa, said the senior officers’ promotions were approved by the air force council.
Famuyiwa said the officers promoted include 14 air vice marshals, 19 air commodores and 45 group captains.
He said those promoted to the rank of air vice marshal are: the air component commander of Operation Delta Safe, Paul Dimfwina; commander presidential air fleet, Saddiq Kaita; director of legal services at the Defence Headquarters, Mahmoud Ahmed; chief of accounts and budget at Headquarters Nigerian air force, Clement Ogbeche and principal air staff officer to the chief of the air staff, Abubakar Bagare.
Others air commodores include; Mohammed Idris, Charles Oghomwen, Napoleon Bali, Remigus Ekeh, Abdulganiyu Olabisi, Ibukun Ojeyemi, Bello Garba, Tunde Awoyoola and Cletus Udeagulu.
Also, the officers promoted to the rank of air commodore from group captains are: Hassan Abubakar, Tajudeen Yusuf, Ebinbowei Yinkere, Abubakar Adamu, Ibikunle Daramola, Ilemobola Amodu and Abubakar Abdulkadir.
Others are: Sunday Aneke, Bgmibgbmitawuza Solomon, Lanre Oluwatoyin, Ayoola Jolasinmi, Titus Dauda, Olanrewaju Shobande, Sani Rabe, Dominic Danat, Anthony Nweke, Sayo Olatunde, Nanjul Kumzhi, and Bukkan Sani.
Famuyiwa said: “The promotions are in line with one of the key drivers of the vision of the chief of the air staff, Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar, which is to promote and inculcate the core values of integrity, excellence and service delivery among NAF personnel.”
He also said as an annual exercise, the Nigerian air force undertakes promotion exercise to motivate officers and men of the force towards rededicating themselves to duty, the service and the nation at large.
He added that while those promoted to the rank of group captain have already been decorated in their respective units, “the decoration ceremony for the 33 newly promoted officers of air ranks has been scheduled for Wednesday, December 14, at the Headquarters of the Nigerian air force in Abuja."
On Monday, December 5, the Nigerian air force received a received military aircraft from the Pakistani military.
The aircraft, Super Mushshak training airplane was handed over to the chief of air staff on behalf of the Nigerian air force.
