Reno Omokri, a staunch critic of the APC, congratulated Akeredolu saying he did not personally lose since the winner of the election is a lawyer.

He also said the exercise was a lesson for the PDP. He urged the party to learn from such lessons if it wants to forge a good front in the future.

The PDP had been entangled in crisis prior to the election as it had two candidates, Jimoh Ibrahim and Jegede.

Jegede was later named the real candidate by the Supreme Court but this was just hours before the election would commence.

Meanwhile a former deputy governor in the state, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, has revealed that Akeredolu's success at the election was aided by some politicians who decamped to the APC.

Olanusi was one of those who defected to the APC shortly before the 2015 general election.

Daily Trust reports that the former deputy governor insisted that Akeredolu would not have won without the assistant of the defectors who came with a wealth of experience.
