JUST IN: Ondo declares Friday public holiday

The Ondo state government has declared Friday, November 25, public holiday, Daily Trust reports.

According to the report, the move by the state government is to enable workers prepare for Saturday's governorship election.

This was contained in a statement issued by the state Head of Service, Toyin Akinkuotu on Thursday, November 24.

The statement directed all heads of MDAs to inform workers in their offices.

Voters in Ondo state will be going to the polls on Saturday, November 26 to elect a new governor that would take over from Olusegun Mimiko, whose tenure expires in February 2017.

28 political parties are featuring governorship candidates for the coming election.
